What are Common Symptoms of Medical Depression?

There are several different types of symptoms that an individual may experience when they are suffering from any of the forms of depression, which are all categorized as medical depression. When an individual begins feeling the symptoms of medical depression, it may be very hard for others to notice. As the depression becomes more severe, the symptoms will also become much worse, and it will be much easier for close friends and members of the individual’s family to spot. Below are some of the most common symptoms that a patient will experience when they are suffering from medical depression.  
  • Changes in regular sleeping habits. Some patients tend to sleep continuously, while others find it hard to fall asleep.
  • Changes in diet. Many times the individual will lose interest in many of the foods that they once enjoyed. Some individuals will begin to overeat on a regular basis, and then there are others that hardly eat anything at all.
  • Feelings of sadness that are accompanied by tearfulness, hopelessness, guilt, helplessness, and anger or irritability are often experienced.
  • Many patients begin to withdraw from social activities, hobbies, and other activities that once provided them with enjoyment
